Project Summary

Glenora Wine Cellars was expanded to include the all-new Veraisons Restaurant and 30,000 square feet of guest rooms at The Inn at Glenora. The entire complex – restaurant, inn and winery – occupies about four acres on Seneca Lake’s west side. In less than six months, the project team delivered a complete renovation and addition to one of Seneca Lake’s oldest wineries.

The Inn at Glenora Wine Cellars boasts 30 rooms, Veraisons Restaurant, a 5,000 square foot dining facility features a 125-seat dining area. Both facilities are linked via an attached bridge to the award-winning winery.

The building is a wood structure with wood siding and roofing that is a combination of asphalt and metal. Interior features include cherry wood  trim, cathedral ceilings and stone fireplaces. The restaurant and warehouse are equipped with sprinklers and the hotel units each have three major fire separations of non-combustible material. The 300-foot retaining wall, the first part of the project, was rapidly built.

The schedule was tight in this project from the start - the project’s final design and details came one month before the Certificate of Occupancy and all the finishes came within the project’s last month. Keeping costs low was a challenge due to the design often being behind schedule and required work that was in excess of the original plan. The second challenge was faced by the mechanical subcontractor, who had to design a reservoir system that could supply the facility with enough water for domestic use and for the sprinkler system.

FACT

There were 20 to 25 laborers working on site until the last month, when that number ballooned to over 100 men to ensure on-time completion.
