Welliver was awarded the construction of a comprehensive complex of facilities that housed operations — one pre-engineered 168,000 square foot receiving warehouse, one pre-engineered 182,000 square foot finished goods warehouse, production building, breaking and winnowing building, and liquid load-out building. Construction included the placement of approximately 33,000 cubic yards of concrete and 2,800 tons of steel, as well as setting nearly 200 product tanks and vessels.
After extensive bidding exercises and negotiations, Welliver was awarded the pre-engineered warehouse and concrete bid packages for the ADM Cocoa plant. Welliver’s strong ability to self-perform quality concrete work was a key component to being awarded the concrete package. Much of the building foundation work was completed throughout adverse weather conditions to meet the demanding schedule. During the foundation construction period, Welliver negotiated additional self-perform work that included masonry and miscellaneous carpentry as well as construction management services, which included coordination of steel procurement and erection, building fit up, finishes, and HVAC.
