This was the first dormitory project on campus and Welliver leveraged its significant experience working in the Higher Education sector to aid the Foundation in the process. Together, we managed the coordination of a second feasibility study that looked at student demand, architectural and engineering options, cost estimates, and financing options. We assisted with hiring the Architect by reviewing and analyzing the firm’s qualifications from a construction standpoint. Our program manager also supported the Foundation by securing financing and beginning the required state environmental review process. Perry Hall, the College’s first residence hall, was named after SUNY Corning’s first president Dr. William L. Perry.
Perry Hall is a three-story, 84 suite dormitory housing more than 300 students and residence life staff. Project stakeholder integration was key to the development of this project. The $16 million building was underwritten by the Corning Community College Development Foundation, advanced in cooperation with the Steuben County Industrial Development Association and the Town of Corning, and privately financed through three local banking institutions.
- Room styles offered include double and quad beds with ensuite kitchenettes and shared bathrooms.
- Construction began spring 2012 on the three-story residence hall and was completed in eleven months.
- The dorm is an L-shaped building located behind The Commons, which houses the cafeteria, student center, and Triangle Lounge.
- The dorm is in the heart of the campus and is a quick walk to the library, classroom buildings, and the gymnasium.
